History Hikes

Hikes require advance registration and the completion of a release form. Contact the IHS office at 425/392-3500 or info@issaquahhistory.org for a registration form, or download a form from our site. The form and payment of the activity fee must be received by the Wednesday before the hike to hold your place. Hikes are held rain or shine. We recommend that you bring water and a sack lunch, and request that you leave animal companions at home.

Dates have been set for the 2009-2010 hiking season; hikes are led by Stephen Grate and start at the Issaquah Depot Museum at 10 AM, unless otherwise noted. Hike fees are $6; members of the Issaquah History Museums pay only $3.

Issaquah & Superior Mine Hikes

Led by volunteer Steve Grate, the hike takes visitors to the site of one of Issaquah's mine workings. Registered hikers and members of the public will gather at the Issaquah Depot at 10 AM for a brief presentation and slide show on the history of the Issaquah & Superior mining operations. Hikers will leave from the Depot afterwards. The hike will last about 2.5 hours and cover approximately two miles over easy terrain.

Grand Ridge Mine Hikes

Led by volunteer Steve Grate, the hike takes visitors to the site of one of Issaquah's mine workings. Registered hikers and members of the public will gather at the Issaquah Depot at 10 AM for a brief presentation and slide show on the history of the Grand Ridge mining operations. Hikers will leave from the Depot afterwards. The hike will last about 3.5 hours and cover approximately three miles over moderate terrain.

Downtown History Hike

Museum Director Erica Maniez will lead hikers on a walk through the history of Issaquah, from the Native Americans to the present day. The tour will start at the Issaquah Depot. It will cover roughly 2 miles over easy terrain and will last approximately two hours. Requested donation is  $2 per person.
